چکیده

The need of biofeedback in Man-Machine interfaces is of vital importance for the development of subconscious control with external devices. In order to include external devices into the user’s body schema, we need to provide more information channels to the human body. In this case study we focus on a EMG controlled prosthetic system. We use electrical stimulation to translate pressure information into biofeedback for the human body. We used functional magnetic resonance imaging in order to measure the effectiveness of this system.

The Usability and Efficiency Human-Computer Interface in Cervical Spinal Cord injury by Game-based Electromyography Biofeedback and EMG Biofeedback

Background and Aims: The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy and usability of human-computer interface in cervical spinal cord injury with two computer games based and EMG biofeedback. Methods: The sample size was 20 participants (healthy and spinal cervical lesions) who were selected as available. The statistical population of the study was spinal cord injury patients referred t...

Generating the Visual Biofeedback Signals Applicable to Reduction of Wrist Spasticity: A Pilot Study on Stroke Patients

Introduction: Application of biofeedback techniques in rehabilitation has turned into an exciting research area during the recent decade. Providing an appropriate visual or auditory biofeedback signal is the most critical requirement of a biofeedback technique. In this regard, changes in Surface Electromyography (SEMG) signals during wrist movement can be used to generate an indictable visual b...

Sensation Generation using Electrical Stimulation for a Prosthetic System

We propose the use of electrical stimulation to generate a new sensorial input to the human body to improve the man-machine interfacing, increasing the communication channels between a robot and the human body. This study focus on the sensation generation for a electromyographic (EMG) prosthetic hand, where the need of “biofeedback” is of vital importance to achieve subconscious control. We use...

Brain activation during manipulation of the myoelectric prosthetic hand: a functional magnetic resonance imaging study.

Neuroimaging data, particularly functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) findings, have not been reported in users of the myoelectric or electromyographic (EMG) prosthetic hand. We developed a virtual EMG prosthetic hand system to eliminate mutual signal noise interference between fMRI imaging and the EMG prosthesis. We used fMRI to localize activation in the human brain during manipulation...
